Provence
The photographs on these web pages were taken in the French regions of Provence and Cote D'Azur, and in Monaco, during July, 2010, when I joined several other photographers for a photographic tour led by John Baker of Travel Images.
Our first base of operations was near the village of Gordes. From there we explored nearby villages of Cadenet, Lourmarin, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Bonnieux and Roussillon, as well as the Senanque Abbey and Pont Julien.
We then made an excursion west to Avignon, Pont-du-Gard, Arles, Fontvieille and Les Baux-de-Provence.
Another excursion was made north to Joucas and through the Foret de Javon to Sault, and the lavender fields surrounding it.
We then went east of Gordes to visit the villages of Saignon and Montfuron, visiting vineyards as well.
Moving our base to Castellane, we explored it and Sisteron, as well as the Gorges du Verdon and fields of sunflowers along the way.
The following day we had a picnic lunch at the tiny village of Eoulx on the way to the village of Gourdon, and also found views of Grasse and Caussels.
Finally, we admired the Cote D'Azur as we made our way northwest to Monaco, which we explored before ending the tour.
Some of us then went on to Liguria and the Cinque Terre in Italy, which will appear in a separate collection of web pages.
These photographs were taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera, using Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM and EF 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lenses.
The brief descriptions on these pages are not intended to be complete references, but merely to bring out a few interesting facts. Also, for many places only a few images are shown, which are by no means intended to fully represent what is to be seen there.
