Shanghai, May 18: Shanghai History Museum
The Shanghai History Museum is housed within the Oriental Pearl Tower. It covers only the history of Shanghai (a different Shanghai Museum, at Renmin Square, covers Chinese history). Exhibits include vehicles (right) and other artifacts, photographs of old Shanghai (below), and many dioramas from various periods (center right) A few samples are shown here. The car was custom made for a wealthy man’s son’s wedding. Below that is a diorama showing an opium den, and below that is one showing an early beauty parlor (which looks more like an impending electrocution). Bottom left, Llani is greeted by a figure from the past.
After leaving the museum we had lunch at the nearby Seagull Restaurant (bottom right).
