Shanghai

Shanghai: Peace Hotel, City God Temple, Yu Gardens, Peoples Park, Maglev Train

Returning to the USA by way of Shanghai, we stay overnight at the historic Peace Hotel and have a few hours to revisit the city before catching our flight home.

Peace Hotel hall

The beautiful art deco Peace Hotel, built in the 1930s, still stands proudly near the north end of The Bund, and a jazz band still entertains guests nightly. I have visited and photographed the Peace Hotel before, but it is fun to stay overnight this time and take a few more photos.

Temple statue

The [Daoist] City God Temple is situated right next to one of the entrances to the popular Yu Gardens and Bazaar, so it is hard to miss.

The Yu Gardens are small, but there are lots of twists and turns and surprises. Unfortunately this was a rather gray day, not good for photography.
